Adaptive sports equipment can be a huge financial barrier. Sports wheelchairs typically cost $2,000-$3,000 per chair with hand cycles and other adaptive mobility devices costing even more. That is why we maintain an inventory of sports wheelchairs and other adaptive equipment to allow participation in our programs without this barrier. We also allow usage of this equipment outside of our programs for individuals with a primary physical disability. Pieces of equipment may be requested for specified time frames, whether that be for a weekend event or for an extended training period for a race. Anyone borrowing equipment must sign a WDSRA waiver and agrees to maintain and return the equipment in the condition in which it was borrowed. A sports wheelchair is simply a mobility tool. Many individuals who use sportschairs are not everyday wheelchair users.
